Heading for Inclusive School in Europe

Praxeological approach and empathy
Course n° 1 Knowing through acting: praxeology in question. (4 hours)

Content

To implement an empathic approach in a classroom, one needs to be clear about how knowledge can be mobilized to do that. There are of course theories, fact sheets of best practices, in short many sources of knowledge on the Net or in a specialized literature. But rationalizing an educational praxis in order to extract knowledge about empathy is something else, related to the question of experiencing things.

Development

  • How can knowledge emerge from an action?
  • Why is knowledge through experience (experiential knowledge) more suited to an empathic approach?
  • What are the characteristics of experiential knowledge?
  • What place can be made for experiencing things?

Description of the learning process

We will logically build here on practical experience in order to transmit to the caregiver or to the teachers a knowledge about praxeology related to empathy:

An audio-visual media (to be specified) will enable the learner to practice on identifying and generating knowledge about empathic (or not) situations that can be observed between professionals (teachers, social workers) and children / adolescents, or within the same group of children.

On the basis of this practical situation, learners can also share their experience and bring out knowledge on this issue of empathy.

And based on this dynamic of exchange of experiences and knowledge between learners, we will then introduce the course properly speaking (see resource sheets) on the praxeological approach and on the various modalities of knowledge (Praxis, clinic and reflexivity).
